Rousseff and Goldman Sachs COO discuss business leadership

President Dilma Rousseff welcomed Goldman Sachs COO Gary Cohn on Wednesday (Apr. 9). They talked about the 10,000 Women Program which provides business and management training for women around the world. Over a thousand women participating in the program are Brazilian. Introduced in 2008, the initiative is sponsored by Goldman Sachs, which raises funding from large financial institutions.
Cohn announced that the second phase of the program aims to raise $600 million in order to expand its outreach to 100,000 women in the future. “We both [Cohn and Rousseff] agree that creating economic growth through ing small and medium-sized enterprises is the way we're going to grow up global economy, is the way that Brazil is going to grow up its economy,” he said.
He also provided some insight into the current Goldman Sachs operations in the country. “We are very committed to our global footprint, we're committed to Brazil as part of our global footprint. The size of our footprint-domesticated country will resemble what we believe opportunity in the country is,” Cohn said.
